Do's And Dont's For Cyclist

Do’s

Ensure that cycle is in good working condition-brakes, pedal, chain, gears, bell, tyre condition, tyre pressure etc.
Height of the seat should be so adjusted that you will be able to place your feet on the ground while sitting.
See that your bag is properly strapped to your shoulders and back.
Any additional material should be rigidly clamped to the carrier.
Traffic rules are applicable for cyclists too - observe traffic discipline and follow traffic rules.
Keep to the extreme left of the road.
Ride at a steady speed.
Give hand signal when turning and negotiate the turn cautiously keeping an eye on vehicles.
Keep distance from heavy vehicles especially PMP buses.
Be careful at blind corners and obstructions where approaching traffic is not visible.
Take extra care at road junctions and watch out for vehicles
Halt and get down only after reaching the road side

Dont’s

Do not hang anything on the handle-bar.
Do not carry your friend on the carrier or front bar.
Do not race your cycle on the road.
Do not perform stunts on road like riding without hands on the handle-bar.
Do not ride in zig-zag fashion.
Do not squeeze through gaps between two vehicles.
Do not ride side by side with your friend.
Do not ride while talking with your friends.
Do not play any mischief while riding.
Do not use mobile phone while riding.
Do not stop suddenly on the road.
Do not overtake motorized vehicle even if it is moving slowly.
